MV Orogenic Geos gets busy with projects. [13-01-2010]
The MV Orogenic Geos was officially launched in Kuantan, Malaysia in May 2009. After a couple of months of commissioning works including the final installation of the AG-100, the vessel began its first maiden geotechnical operation for the SOGT project in Sabah for Petronas Carigali (PCSB).
The vessel then was assigned to carry out a soil boring for PCSB in offshore Terengganu before going to Surabaya to undertake a soil boring campaign for Husky Oil. It continued with another survey and geotechnical project in the Indonesian waters for ConocoPhillips.
In November 2009, the MV Orogenic Geos returned to Malaysia to undertake another PCSB in offshore Terengganu. It is currently in offshore Bintulu, Sarawak working on another PCSB project. The vessel is scheduled to return to Singapore by third week of January 2010 in preparation for the next long geotechnical campaign in East Kalimantan for TOTAL E & P Indonesia.
AG currently operates two dedicated geotechnical vessels namely the MV Orogenic Geos and the MV Volans. Both vessels are being employed to service offshore geotechnical contracts especially in Malaysia and the SEA region.
