Press Release on Purchase of Geotechnical Vessel - MV Orogenic Geos [28-10-2008]

OROGENIC GROUP PURCHASE NEW PURPOSELY BUILT GEOTECHNIC VESSEL TO SERVE OIL AND GAS CLIENTS IN THE REGION
 
OROGENIC Group’s unit, Ageo Marine Sdn Bhd (“AGEO”) has purchased a brand new vessel which will be used to carry out the offshore geotechnical investigation and survey works, serving the requirement of the oil and gas clients in the South East Asia. To finance the asset acquisition, AGEO has accepted a Bai Bithaman Ajil loan facility from the Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad (“BPMB”) which covers 78% of the boat cost, while the rest is financed internally. The letter of acceptance of the facility was signed by AGEO on 5th November 2007
 
The Official Loan Signing ceremony between AGEO and BPMB is graced by Y.B Dato’ Haji Ahmad Husni Bin Mohd Hanadzlah, Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry. The historic event which marks a new milestone for the OROGENIC Group is also attended by the top management and key personnel of BPMB and invited VIP guests from the oil companies and service providers.
 
The brand new vessel is being built at Eastern Marine Shipbuilding Sdn Bhd in Sibu, Sarawak. The vessel is designed by Conan Wu and Associates, Marine Architects and it is scheduled for completion in May 2008
 
The new Malaysian flagged vessel will be named MV OROGENIC GEOS, registered in Port Klang, and will be managed by AGEO. The total costs of the vessel, marine drill rig, other geotechnical equipment and survey equipment to be installed onboard the vessel are in excess of RM30 million.
 
The MV OROGENIC GEOS is a 60-meter vessel installed with a four-point mooring system, center moonpool and 42-pax accommodation.
 
The vessel will be mainly used by a subsidiary company Asian Geos Sdn Bhd for offshore geotechnical drilling and sampling works. However, she will also be equipped with an A-frame and analogue geophysical survey equipment which will allow her to switch her role back and forth as soil boring and analogue geophysical survey vessel. The geophysical survey is being carried out by another subsidiary, Orogenic GeoExpro Sdn Bhd. which is also actively in the region.
